What is an item group?

An item group is a classification for items, especially to keep track of pricing and financial information.

Item groups are not used to classify within a frontend (webshop or website). For this you should use the module categories .

An item is always assigned to only one item group. Within the item group, business matters are defined concerning finance, among other things the general ledger accounts. Using journal entries it is possible to make exports at item group level for a financial package or other ERP/CRM system.
