Set up currency to serve customers outside your default currency region.
Within RentMagic it is possible to use multiple currencies. The standard currency is used for storing the basic data on prices by the system, but by using another currency in combination with an exchange rate, other currencies can be used in reports and in the further operation of the system. Even if you don't want to work with multiple currencies, the default currency will always be present in the system, for example the Euro.
Open the currency overview
To open the overview of all currencies within RentMagic:
- In the main menu, navigate to Settings > Financial > Currency.
The currency overview opens.
- Use the filter to search for a specific currency using a keyword.
New currency
To create a new currency:
- From the overview, click on New in the action bar.
The details form for creating a new currency is displayed.
- Please fill in all fields as completely as possible. See Field information for more information about the fields.
- Click Save in the action bar.
The currency can be used.
Changing a currency
If the currency to be adjusted has been used before, the existing currency will be adjusted throughout the system, except for the rate field. The rate is a snapshot and will not be updated on existing records.
If you change the exchange rate on the currency table, the new exchange rate will be used when creating new data within RentMagic.
To change an existing currency:
- Use the filter to search for a specific currency using a keyword.
- Double-click the respective currency in the overview.
The details form is displayed.
- Adjust the fields you want to change and check the other information.
- Click Save in the action bar to save the data.
The data is active immediately.
Deleting a currency
The currencies you want to delete are not deleted with the historical data of orders and invoices. These will always remain historically visible.
To remove a currency:
- Gebruik het filter om met een zoekwoord een specifieke valuta te zoeken.
- Selecteer de valuta in het overzicht.
- Klik op Verwijderen in de actiebalk.
- Bevestig de melding.
De valuta wordt per direct verwijderd uit het systeem.

Informatie over de valuta te gebruiken binnen je handelsdocumenten.
- Valuta naam
De omschrijving van de valuta. - Symbool
Het teken wat gebruikt wordt voor de valuta, bijvoorbeeld € voor de Euro. - Wisselkoers
De koers ten opzichte van de standaard gedefinieerde valuta in het systeem. De standaard valuta heeft altijd een koers van 1,00. Stel dat de standaard valuta EUR is, en je wilt bijvoorbeeld een USD (United States Dollar) als valuta toevoegen dan moet je de koers aanhouden van USD ten opzichte van de EUR. Oftewel: Hoeveel USD’s kun je kopen met 1 Euro? Die uitkomst is de waarde van de koers. - Is de standaard valuta binnen de administratie
